Private Investigator Whistler BC Investigation Services

Private Investigators Serving Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky Corridor

Whistler is one of the most recognized resort communities in the world, a year-round draw for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and hiking that brings a constant flow of visitors, seasonal workers, and second-home owners into the mountains. Shadow Investigations has served clients across British Columbia since 1990, and that includes Whistler and the wider Sea-to-Sky corridor. We travel up regularly from our Vancouver office along Highway 99, covering Whistler alongside Squamish and Pemberton, to help residents, property owners, employers, law firms, and insurers turn uncertainty into clear, documented answers.

My child custody situation was getting ugly and I needed something solid to bring to my lawyer. Nathan helped coordinate the whole thing, and the evidence they gathered during the case made a real difference once we got to court. They kept me in the loop the whole time, which I appreciated because waiting around not knowing would've driven me crazy.

Hired them from out in the Fraser Valley and wasn’t sure if they would cover all the way out here but turns out they do and were very accommodating. Taz handled everything smoothly and their final report was well-organized and easy to pass along to my attorney. Great Experience!

I had Janet handle a background check on someone I was considering for a business partnership in Burnaby, and I’m really glad I did. It saved me from getting into something that could’ve blown up later. She also answered all my follow-up questions the same day I called.

Nathan ran surveillance for my infidelity case in Vancouver and caught everything on camera on the second day we tried! The video with the times and dates showed my partner meeting someone at a restaurant and then walking around Robson St. It was stressful but Nathan sent quick text updates so I wasn't left wondering what was happening. The final report was 37 pages with a ton of photos showing what my partner did!

Reach a Whistler Private Investigator in Confidence

Tell us what you are dealing with using the form below. It reaches a senior member of our team directly, with your privacy protected, and they will follow up to talk through how we can help. For urgent matters, you can call us any time at 604-657-4499.

What a Whistler Investigation Costs

We are clear about cost from the first conversation. Our standard rates apply to Whistler cases, with one important difference to be aware of given the distance:

  • Surveillance: about $500 for a half day or $1,000 for a full day of coverage plus added fees for travel to Whistler
  • Infidelity investigations: usually $1000 to $2,500, depending on the hours and surveillance involved
  • WCB and disability claim work: generally $1,500 to $3,500, based on the days covered
  • Skip tracing to locate a person: a flat fee of $650

A note on travel for Whistler cases: because there are no investigators based in Whistler, work in the area carries additional travel fees to and from Whistler, calculated from our nearest office. For matters that require more than one day of coverage, accommodation fees may also apply. We set all of this out clearly in your estimate before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

For a detailed list of rates for all of our services, please visit our pricing page. Every investigator on our team is licensed under the BC Security Services Act, and Shadow Investigations has operated since 1990 with BBB A+ accreditation and the 2025 Consumer Choice Award.

Covering Whistler and the Sea-to-Sky

We reach Whistler the same way most people do, by traveling the Sea-to-Sky Highway north from the Lower Mainland, and we take on work the length of the corridor. In Whistler itself we cover the Village, Blackcomb and Creekside, Function Junction, and the surrounding neighbourhoods from Alpine Meadows and Emerald Estates to Cheakamus Crossing. Along the way we also serve Squamish, the self-styled outdoor recreation capital of Canada, where rock climbing on the Stawamus Chief, mountain biking, hiking, and kiteboarding draw their own steady crowds, as well as Pemberton to the north. Wherever your matter sits along the corridor, we can get there.

Surveillance in a Region Built for the Outdoors

Whistler and Squamish exist for physical activity, and that makes the corridor a meaningful place for injury and disability claim work. When someone has reported a serious injury, what they do on the slopes, in the bike park, or on the climbing routes can tell a very different story, and we are experienced at documenting it discreetly and within the law. The resort setting brings its own demands too, from busy village pedestrian areas to spread-out alpine properties, and our investigators plan each assignment around the surroundings so a subject is captured cleanly without the surveillance being noticed.

How We Help in Whistler

These are the matters we are most often asked to handle in Whistler and along the corridor. Each links to a fuller explanation of our approach.

  • WCB, Disability and Insurance Fraud: discreet surveillance and evidence on questionable injury and disability claims, documented to hold up when it is challenged, including the recreation-heavy scenarios common to the area.
  • Surveillance: the core of much of our work, planned for everything from the village to a remote alpine property.
  • Infidelity Investigations: establishing the truth, discreetly, when you suspect a partner is being unfaithful, including matters tied to second homes and getaways in the area.
  • Child Custody and Alimony: building court-ready evidence in family disputes, from a parent’s conduct to income a support claim leaves out.
  • Background Checks: drawing employment, education, criminal, and public records into one clear report before you trust someone new.
  • Skip Tracing: locating people who have moved on or fallen out of contact, for serving documents, recovering debts, or reconnecting with family.

Our Investigative Methods

We match the method to the matter. Depending on your case, that may involve surveillance, open-source intelligence, polygraph testing, or digital forensics. We will walk you through the right approach during your free consultation, before any work starts.

Everything is gathered lawfully and documented to a standard that insurers, employers, and the courts will accept.

Clear on Cost From the Start
We set out every fee, including travel and any accommodation, in your estimate before work begins.

Working With Us on a Whistler Case

It starts with a confidential consultation, where we listen to your situation, give you an honest read on what is realistically achievable, and set out a clear plan. Because Whistler sits a distance from our offices, that plan includes the travel and any accommodation costs alongside our rates, all agreed before any work begins. From there we carry out the investigation discreetly and within the law, keep you informed at each stage, and finish with a clear, well-documented report you can act on, suitable for an adjuster or a courtroom if your matter goes that far.

Questions We Hear From Whistler Clients

Yes. Because no investigators are based in Whistler, cases in the area carry travel fees to and from Whistler from our nearest office, and for work that spans more than one day, accommodation costs may also apply. We lay all of this out in your estimate before any work begins, so you know the full cost up front.

Yes. We work the full Sea-to-Sky corridor, including Squamish with its busy climbing, biking, and water-sports scene, and Pemberton to the north. Travel fees are calculated based on the distance to your specific location.

Yes, and the area is well suited to it. Whistler and Squamish draw people for skiing, mountain biking, and climbing, so what a claimant does in the area can be very revealing when it does not match a reported injury. We document this discreetly and lawfully, to a standard suited to a claims dispute.

Our standard rates apply, with hourly work generally falling between $75 and $150, and some services billed at a flat rate. For Whistler, travel fees and, on multi-day matters, possible accommodation costs are added on top. You always receive a clear written estimate covering all of it before any work starts.

Yes. Every member of our team is licensed under the BC Security Services Act, which is what allows private investigators to operate legally in Whistler and throughout the province.

We do not have an office in Whistler. We serve the area from our Vancouver office, traveling north along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, which is why Whistler cases include travel fees as noted above.

Always. Confidentiality is central to how we work. Your information is handled securely, access to your file is kept tight, and your matter is treated with complete discretion from the first call to the final report.
